Living with Parkinson's RSS 2.0
# Tuesday, April 07, 2009

In the summers of most Americans life, they can remember throwing the football with their sons, playing with the daughters and in general being active with the family as a part of the way of life. Several years before diagnosis, John Yonushonis noticed a changed. It may have been the fact that his coworkers could tell it was him coming down the hall because of the dragging of his leg. The inability to move his right arm, Or it was the constant deterioration of the golf game, never too good but going no where, or the inability to throw a foot ball anymore. Stiffness is often excused by age, however this stiffness would not go away. It was not until losing the complete ability to write, the "masking" in social situations and the continued anxious attitude that caused the trip to the Neurologist. On Dec 29th 2005 Dr Mark Winograd did his diagnosis and revealed that Parkinson's had manifested itself in John. After the initial shock, the calls to friends and love ones and the first 6 moths of getting used to the medicines it was time to strike back. On Oct 20,2006 the Foundation for Parkinson's and Neurological Research was founded. This organization is for the strict purpose of raising money to fund research for Parkinson's and support organizations that increase quality of life with those with Parkinson's and other Neurological disorders. We ask for your support for our endeavors and VERY IMPORTANT: If you would like to talk to John or any of the support staff or have him call one of your loved ones that has been diagnosed, call him at 602-469-1203 and identify yourself as one who has seen the web page or send an e-mail to jyonushonis@ffpnr.org. With the help of all of us we can make Parkinson's a thing of the past
